Feelings For the World to See

Meet mental illness as expressed through local therapeutic art

As goes the American Indian proverb: Never criticize a man until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins. Please join Geauga Park District for a local art show with that very important goal in mind.

What: IMAGINE: 16th Annual Ravenwood Mental Health Center Art Show Reception

When: Thursday, October 23 – 4 to 6 p.m.

Where: Big Creek Park, Donald W. Meyer Center, 9160 Robinson Road, Chardon Twp.

IMAGINE will remain on display at Big Creek Park through November 21, weekdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Show artwork will also be shown at Burton Public Library October 23 through November 15.

Most of the artwork on display was created during art therapy groups provided by Ravenwood Mental Health Center, according to Ravenwood: “Art therapy can offer an alternate outlet for traditional talk therapy. Often a work of art speaks when words are difficult to express. It is hoped that the viewer will gain an understanding on mental health issues … and see the strengths and struggles of these artists, thus breaking the stigma attached to mental illness.”

The Meyer Center is wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
