Third graders in Mrs. Troph’s class at Cardinal Intermediate School see cheese in a whole new light, thanks to a recent visit from Great Lakes Cheese. Company representative Jennifer Francsico visited the students recently and discussed the cheese making process. She explained to students that cheese starts out as a liquid, milk, and then, through various processes, transforms into the solid cheese that they eat. The discussion tied into the class’s recent science lesson on solid, liquid, and gas states of matter.
Students were also shown how workers dress at Great Lakes Cheese and were given protective caps and samples of Cheese made at the Hiram plant.
