Mrs. Girdler’s and Mrs. Zembower’s 1 grade class at Ledgemont Elementary conducted an ice cream experiment using project based learning as their guide.
The students worked in groups of four and started with this “Driving Question” How can we create a new flavor of healthy ice cream for kids?
The groups had written their recipes earlier and then met to discuss how they would start. The ingredients were laid out for each team to use for their own recipe.
Once the students were ready, each group took what they had created and poured in the blender.
Everyone had a taste to see if they liked what had been created. After this was finished everyone started writing in their notebooks about what they had learned.
