The longest day of the year is something that should be celebrated, but how? Join Geauga Park District on Sunday, June 21, for fun solar experiments and a safe viewing of the sun!

Solar Day & Solstice Sunset celebrations will take place on Sunday, June 21 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Observatory Park, 10610 Clay Street, Montville Twp.

With the assistance of Astronomy Naturalist “Astro-Nat” Chris Mentrek, you and your family can take this day to experiment with all kinds of solar-powered objects. Among them, try racing a solar car, harnessing the sun’s energy to roast marshmallows and using the henge stones and pavement markers to learn about the ever-changing location of the sunset.

Visitors will also be welcomed to view the sun safely through Park District solar scopes, watchful for solar flares, and observe the latest sunset of the year (after 9 p.m.!) in the west.

This free, all-ages program will be fully wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration is not required. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
