CHS Science Teacher Receives Physics Grant

Students in Dr. Falin’s high school science classes are going to have the “Best School Day” when their new physics equipment comes in!

Falin and her students have received funding through donorschoose.org and the “best school day” initiative to purchase two Vernier Dynamic Systems to study motion and forces in class. These low-friction tracks and carts will not only expand the number of in-class labs students conduct, but they’ll also let students do controlled kinematic experiments to study motion, Newton’s laws, energy and momentum.

This system will work with the new iPad sensors Dr. Falin will be receiving thanks to the Partners in Science grant awarded earlier this year. Falin says, “My students gravitate toward hands-on labs where they can work collaboratively in small groups on activities that engage all their senses.”

They ask, “What are we doing today?” upon entering the classroom and when it’s a lab they just light up.” Way to go and thanks to those who helped fund this project!
