#TailsOfGivingTuesday’s 2nd Tail: A Kitten who was Hit by a Car Receives Help from Strangers

Rescue Village has officially kicked off their #GivingTuesday campaign by sharing the first and second edition of “#TailsOfGivingTuesday” which are stories told every Tuesday from now until #GivingTuesday (November 29th) of animals who have passed through our doors and left paw prints on our hearts.

This week, was the story of Randy Travis, a kitten who was rescued by a good samaritan from the middle of the road. This tiny 4 week old kitten was brought into Rescue Village in bad shape. Our clinic concluded that he had been hit by a car. He was given a feeding tube and, after a couple of days in our clinic, Randy Travis was sent to a foster home where he could continue to regain his strength.

We knew that we could count on one of our star foster moms, Kathy, to help him recover. Kathy has helped 54 kittens and counting, including Randy Travis, until they were ready to be put up for adoption. She spent 3 – 4 weeks loving him and nursing him back to health.

Randy Travis finally found his forever home in June and was adopted by one of our own volunteers. He was such a fighter and, like many of our animals who enter foster care, just needed some extra TLC before he could find his forever home. When an animal comes in that is too young to be placed up for adoption, has special needs or is hurt, we often place them in foster care so that they can be fully prepared to find their happy endings. We truly couldn’t help as many animals as we do without our amazing volunteer foster network.

You can help us make the stay at Rescue Village more comfortable. Sometimes, even after foster care, an animal is here for weeks or even months. A donation of just $50 provides a one week stay for a cat or kitten that is waiting for a home. Please consider supporting Rescue Village on #GivingTuesday.

Check out our social media (@RescueVillage) on November 29th for an update on how Randy Travis is doing and every Tuesday until then for more #TailsOfGivingTuesday.
