Chagrin Falls High School Student Named Jostens Buckeye State Yearbook Workshop Photo Contest Winner!

Mackenzie Shanklin recognized for phenomenal photography!

Mackenzie Shanklin, a senior at Chagrin Falls High School, was the winner of the 2017 Jostens Buckeye State Yearbook Workshop Photo Contest.  The annual competition celebrates the creative and innovative talents of student photographers from schools across Ohio. This competition empowers students to positively capture their school experiences and share the stories of their yearbook camp experience through photography.  Four Chagrin Falls High School students attended the camp, held July 17-19 at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.  They included Sarah Crane, Madeline Gregoire, Ava McFarlane, and Mackenzie Shanklin.

Entries from 25 student photographers were submitted from across the state. From these entries, only one winner was selected. Photo contest submissions were judged by a panel of judges consisting of professional photographers and photography instructors. The judges focused on composition, artistic merit, and technical qualities, as well as the ability to convey a compelling story.

Shanklin was in Angie Jameson’s photojournalism class at Chagrin Falls High School during the 2016-2017 school year, and she will serve as editor on the 2017-2018 staff led by Mr. Ken Kasee.

This is not the first time Shanklin has been recognized for her phenomenal photography.  Out of 4,000 entries submitted from across the country, she won Jostens’ National Photo Contest last March.
