Ohio Author Mindy McGinnis Visits Geauga West Branch Library to Discuss her Writing Journey

Ohio author Mindy McGinnis visits the Geauga West Branch Thursday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. to talk about her books and her journey from aspiring to published author. This event is free and open to the public. Registration required.

McGinnis is a young adult author, blogger, and assistant teen librarian who won the 2016 Edgar Award for Young Adult Fiction. Her works include In a Handful of Dust, A Madness So Discreet, The Female of the Species, This Darkness Mine (released this October), and others. Her book, Not a Drop to Drink, was selected as a Choose to Read Ohio book.

McGinnis attended Otterbein University to study English Literature and Religion. She justifies owning nine cats by stating that her two dogs “balance things out nicely.”

Her blog for writing hopefuls, Writer, Writer Pants on Fire, includes stories and advice from new and veteran authors, agents, and more. The blog covers everything from getting an agent and submitting your work to seeing your cover, marketing your work, and fighting second novel despair. For the thick-skinned and brave of heart, McGinnis also critiques query letters for her “Saturday Slash.”
