Blackbrook Audubon will focus on one species of sparrow in a free program Tuesday, January 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the Holden Arboretum. Mike Watson, a Conservation Biologist at Holden, will describe what his study has revealed so far on the seasonal movements of the Dark-eyed Junco. Known widely as a “snowbird” in the eastern U.S., these little charmers frequently visit bird feeders in the winter, but retreat northward in the spring. Mike is trying to determine whether an isolated breeding population in northeast Ohio stays year round or migrates. He will also share insights into their breeding cycles and behavior.
