| Promoting the beauty and benefits of our county’s biggest and oldest trees, Geauga SWCD is excited to announce this year’s BIG TREE Contest! We are now seeking nominations for the 2020 featured tree species – the Black Walnut (Juglans nigra)! Known as one of America’s most treasured trees, Black Walnuts are prized for their chocolate-brown, fine-grained, and durable wood along with their abundant, nutritious nuts. Participants will submit a nomination for a Black Walnut tree they believe might be the largest in the county. Spread the word… nominations are due July 31st. |
