Family Ties Night
We are excited to have the second Family Ties Night of the 2019/20 school year on Wednesday, March 4th with no homework assigned, no athletic practices or games after 4:30pm and no meetings or activities hosted in the district.
Cleveland Clinic eXpressions
Six Kenston High School art students were recognized for their submission to the Cleveland Clinic eXpressions program. Anya Parsons’ “Unfortunately, Honorable” and Grace Geisler’s “At the Core” received blue ribbons. Red ribbons were awarded to Margaret Eibler for her “Liver Let Die” and Kira Weber for “The Anxious Heart.” Kennan Garceau was recognized for “Scarred” with a white ribbon. Honorable Mention was awarded to Grace Spehn for her piece “Next Addicted Generation.” The students worked with art teachers, Mr. Todd Malkus and Mrs. Andie Quinn, in Art IV and III classes.
The Cleveland Clinic eXpressions® program is an award-winning educational initiative that engages middle and high school students in the creative exploration of science and medicine. Through project-based, peer-to-peer learning, students translate research studies conducted by Cleveland Clinic summer interns, producing artistic, literary, and mathematical interpretations of the science.
This year’s theme and research addressed five important community health topics: heart disease, obesity, infant mortality, opioids/pain management, and diabetes. Students analyzed the research on these topics and interpreted it through their artistic expression.
“The Anxious Heart”
Kira Weber and Kenston art teachers, Mrs. Andie Quinn and Mr. Todd Malkus, are at the Cleveland Clinic eXpression program to recognize award winning art pieces that creatively explored science and medicine. Kira’s piece “The Anxious Heart” interpreted the topic of heart disease.

Learning in fluid in Pre-Engineering classes
Kenston Middle School students, Janie Kerchenski, Riley Rosneck and Kate Hershberger, are crushing it in Mr. Peterson’s eighth grade Pre-Engineering class. Students are learning about the basic principles of fluid power, including the applications of Pascal’s Law, Archimedes and Bernoulli’s Principles; with their knowledge they built a basic hydraulic powered machine.

National Speech and Debate
Micah Greenberg, Laura Parsons and Samantha Stephens will represent Kenston High School at the 2020 National Speech & Debate Tournament held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is the largest contingent of Kenston High School students that have qualified in the team’s twenty-one year history.
The National Speech & Debate Tournament is the largest academic competition in the world and serves as the capstone experience for thousands of speech and debate students each year. The event is hosted in a different city each summer. It brings more than 4,500 students from more than 1,200 schools from across the country, U.S. territories, and select guest countries together for a week of rigorous competition to determine national champions. High school students in the United States compete to attend Nationals through the district qualification series.
