Space is still available, but limited, for adults in the developmental disability community who might like to visit Observatory Park for an amazing look at the night sky during the day!
Geauga Park District will host Inclusive Exploring: Planetarium Show & Planetary Trail Walk on Thursday, February 16, from 10 to 11:30 AM and from 1 to 2:30 PM. An indoor planetarium presentation by Astronomy Naturalist “Astro-Nat” Chris Mentrek will be followed by a short walk to look at the Planetary Trail, weather permitting, touring a cool, scaled-down version of our solar system.
Registration is required for all participants at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Programs & Events, then February 16 on the calendar, or by calling 440-286-9516.
“Exploring the night sky in a planetarium is a lot of fun, but for some visitors it can be a little intimidating,” Astronomy Naturalist “Astro-Nat” Chris Mentrek said. “Between the dark, unfamiliar room and the other visitors, a planetarium can be overwhelming! That’s why (Naturalist Nora Sindelar) and I started an inclusive planetarium program, which provides a quiet, calm environment to help groups join in the planetarium fun. In the past, we’ve offered these kinds of shows to particular school trips and other groups, but this is our first time presenting an inclusive show to the general public. It should be a lot of fun!”
