“Welcome, Agent! Your mission today is to discover new and exciting facts about maple sugaring at Swine Creek Reservation!”
And with that, you’ll embark on a fun, interactive learning experience using Geauga Park District’s location-based game, Agents of Discovery! Just bring your smart device to Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield, open the free Agents of Discovery app, and search for our “Maple Madness” mission, available February 21 through March 31. (Note that downloading the mission within the app in advance of visiting the park may help you combat the area’s spotty cell phone service…but this will be worth it when you get there, trust us!)
For each new Agents of Discovery mission in 2025, your Agents app will tell you which trails in the park to explore, and as you approach each of the challenges, your device will alert you when it’s time to play one. Challenges for the “Maple Madness” mission (aka Winter Part 2) include From Sap to Syrup, Sap Collection, Sweet Like Sugar and Tapping Tools.
Upon completion, agents may also head over to The West Woods Nature Center through show a screencap of their completion screen to choose a reward from a grab bag of fun Geauga Park District and Agents of Discovery items: a frisbee, whistle flashlight keychain, zipper pull, plastic cup, button and lapel pin.
Perhaps you will even plan to piggyback your gameplay with Sap’s-a-Risin’ Sundays on February 23, March 2 or March 9 if you’re already coming out for its hands-on maple sugaring fun. Play solo or together with friends or family.
New missions and rewards appear twice a season, or about every six weeks, at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Activities, then Geocaching & Location-Based Games, where you can also find a QR code to scan and easily download the free app. Have fun!
