CHS Student Leadership Symposium
Chardon High School recently hosted a Leadership Symposium with more than 140 students and 12 staff members participating. This all-day interactive symposium was predominantly lead by students with many adults mentoring the students within their clubs, activities, sports, and societal leadership positions. The students participated in team-building activities, learned life-long skills and heard a powerful testimony of strength and perseverance from Gold Medalist, Dominique Moceanu. Furthermore, many adult leaders gave mini-lessons on leadership and the students collaborated in large and small groups. It was certainly a transformative day. Special thanks to our longtime community partner, Chardon Methodist Church, for hosting the event for the high school.

District Releases “Quality Profile”
On September 12, 2016 Chardon Local Schools, along with approximately 70 other school districts throughout Ohio, released a more comprehensive, community-oriented companion to the State’s School District Report Card. Called a “Quality Profile,” the report includes additional accountability measures that define a high quality education that are not included in the State’s report. The Quality Profile helps to evaluate the effectiveness of a school district beyond standardized testing and other statistical measures. The Profile is based on six categories: academics, arts, student leadership and activities, fiscal stewardship, parent and community involvement, and student services. The district’s 2016 profile can be viewed on the homepage of the district website at www.chardonschools.org
