Hambden student at Lake FarmPark

Hambden third trade students recently took a field trip to Lake Farm Park to learn more about our community and the resources that it has to offer. Students were treated to experiences that could not be replicated within the classroom. Here they were learning how solar panels collect sunlight to produce electricity.

Books, Bears and Blankets

Park Elementary recently partnered with Notre Dame College’s Education Department to host “Books, Bears and Blankets” a family literacy night for the families of first grade through third grade students. Parents were provided information on how to incorporate literacy into everyday life events along with links to fun web sites and graphic organizers. The students were able to sit in an author’s chair and present their favorite book. They also enjoyed stories and activities led by Notre Dame graduate students. A highlight of the evening was a guest appearance by The Cat in the Hat himself who engaged students in reading and listening.
