Arts in the Parks! Geauga Park District Offers a Series of New Arts Experiences and Workshops

Start the season with a visit to The West Woods Nature Center and Meet the Artists on Friday, February 9th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Here we will debut Nature-inspired paintings on display by artists Julie Cook of Madison and Hap Howle of Thompson, both of whom will be in attendance, as well as enjoy refreshments and other nature center displays.

Registration is required at Geauga Park District or 440-286-9516 for two painting workshops this season, both on Friday evenings.

Robert Kolcum will lead workshop-goers to paint beautiful woodland sugaring scene onto a sap bucket on February 23rd, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center. A $35 fee includes all materials and refreshments, but please dress for a mess with an old shirt or stock. Ages 21 and up, please.

Also, Jeannie Carder Shimek from Artifacts Gift Studio will instruct as participants paint a set of two drink glasses, which may also be utilized as candle holders, with a “full moon rising” motif on March 30th, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Observatory Park’s McCullough Science Center. A $30 fee here includes all materials and refreshments, including non-alcoholic beverages, but participants may also bring their beverage of choice. Ages 15+, please.

Finally, Maple Town Tune Traders continue monthly in 2018 for area singers, musicians and receptive audience members every last Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center: January 25th, February 22nd and March 22nd. All musical genres, instruments and levels are welcome to sign up for short performances at the evening’s start, followed by a jam session. Come to play, sing or simply enjoy in the audience – and snacks to share are always welcome, too.
