Seeking Instructors for Classes
It is also time to plan ahead for classes. Geauga Lyric Theater Guild is seeking instructors in performing and visual arts for the 2015 winter and spring educational program. Class proposals should enhance and broaden the skills of participants. Apply online online. New instructors should also submit a resume and references. Deadline for class proposals is November 7. Any questions or inquiries may be directed to Julie Douglass at the Arts Center (440-285-7701).
Holiday Show and Art Contest Opportunity
With the arrival of autumn, thoughts of the holidays are not far behind. Plans for the Christmas show Annie Warbucks are well under way and will include an opportunity for area artists (or budding artists) to display their work. All ability levels and ages are invited to participate in an art contest in conjunction with this spirited holiday production opening on December 5 and running through December 21.
Orphan Annie dreams of being adopted by Daddy Warbucks, inspiring this year’s contest theme, Christmas Hopes and Dreams. The art submitted will be displayed in the theater lobby during the run of the musical. Audiences will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite representation of the theme. There will be winners in three age groups, under 10, 10-15 years old, over 16 through adult, earning them complementary tickets to a future GLTG production.
Artwork in any medium is welcome. Entries can be framed or unframed, no larger than 11×14, with the artist name, age, address, phone and title of piece on the back.
Entries should be dropped off at the Arts Center at 106 Water Street during business hours, Tuesday through Thursday, 10-5 pm. by Dec. 1.
Artwork must be picked up on Dec. 21 by 5pm, at the theater.
