BECOME A BASKET-WEAVER – Register to partake in Naturalist Renell’s charming series

Put your hands to work weaving a basket this season!

Registration is open at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 for workshops to build a basic Williamsburg basket with a handle, a unique-to-you odds-and-ends basket, or both!

Two sessions of Weave a Williamsburg Basket, teaching the basic art of basket weaving with rattan reed, are available: Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, both 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. (for those who take longer to finish) at Swine Creek Reservation’s brand new lodge. Participation will cost $25 for Geauga residents and $28 for out-of-county residents, covering all materials and instruction.

Also, for those with some basket-weaving experience – including previous participants of Naturalist Renell Roebuck’s charming basket-weaving series – two sessions of Odds & Ends Basket are also available: Wednesday, July 20, and Thursday, July 21, both 6 to 9 p.m. at The West Woods. From the comfort of The West Woods’ cool, climate-controlled nature center, Naturalist Renell will provide a basic pattern, then you will design and weave your own basket utilizing the creativity that’s innate in you! This workshop will cost $20 for Geauga residents and $24 for out-of-county residents, also covering all materials and guidance.
