Berkshire Senior Career Day at Kent State Geauga

On November 11th, the Berkshire class of 2015 attended a unique program sponsored by The Geauga Growth Partnership, Great Lakes Cheese, and the Berkshire Schools. This year, they spent the day at Kent State Geauga learning about the I-Sight Program.

Lori Gorrell from Upwards Solutions is an expert in administering the DiSC* model. I-Sight is a unique learning profile developed for young people from ages 12 to 18. Using the DiSC model*, I-Sight creates positive self-awareness and understanding of others by helping young people recognize and accept behavioral differences. A four-page assessment uses easy-to-understand language to explore behavior across the four primary dimensions.

After completing the DiSC assessment, the students were divided into groups based on how they answered the DiSC questions. The students created career choices posters in their DiSC groups which were displayed in the commons area. Each of the groups created skits and presentations that were performed in front of the whole group.

At the end of the day each senior received a certificate signifying that they had completed their third career day program. The Berkshire class of 2015 was the first group of students to participate in the career day programs that started in 2012.

Berkshire teachers Mrs. Koler, Mrs. Hull, Mrs. Hunter, and Assistant Principal Miss Timmons are commended for their support and participation in this worthwhile program.

We want to thank The Geauga Growth Partnership, Great Lakes Cheese, Steven Peter, and Lori Gorrell for their tremendous support of our students.
