Berkshire/Ledgemont/Newbury Juniors Participate in Career Day

On January 6, juniors from Berkshire, Ledgemont and Newbury High Schools participated in a career day event at Kent State Geauga. The program was sponsored by the Geauga Growth Partnership and Great Lakes Cheese.

Lori Gorrell from Upward Solutions, Christian Klein from Company 119 and Megan Clarke from Hexpol addressed the students in the morning on soft skills and the importance of making a good first impression.

Breakout sessions were held in the computer labs for the students to work on their resumes using Career Locker. Here they also spent time learning how to interview effectively with Geauga County employers.

After that, Berkshire graduate Danielle Young and Newbury student Maggie Kinkopf described to the students their successful experiences in the Geauga Growth Partnership internship program.

We want to thank Tracy Jemison, Bonnie Troyer, Georgia Klemencic, and Marcia Owen from the Geauga Growth Partnership, John Epprecht from Great Lakes Cheese, the school districts, and the Geauga County employers who volunteered their time to help the students.
