BIG KID FUN – Wintertime programs focus on middle-schoolers and high-schoolers

Middle-schoolers and high-schoolers are invited to register for two very special park programs created just for them this January.

On Saturday, January 15, all scouts in grades 9 through 12 can register (by phone only, max four per registration) for High School Scout Snowshoe Day at The West Woods Nature Center. Two morning sessions are scheduled to divide the crowd a bit. In covering the basic use of snowshoes, we may be meeting some requirements for Girl Scouts’ Snow Adventure or Boy Scouts’ Snow Sports badges. But at the very least, all will come away having discovered a new way to enjoy Northeast Ohio’s long, cold winters.

Then, on Monday, January 17, from 1 to 4 p.m., young people in grades five through 10 can be dropped off at Orchard Hills Park for X-TREME Winter Fun Day! Here you’ll try snowshoes, learn about winter wildlife, and warm up by the fire with complimentary hot cocoa and s’mores. Remember to bring your sled for some fun downhill rides, and hey, spread the word – adventures are made even more fun with friends! Please note that a signed waiver will be required for each participant; more details are provided upon registration, which is required.
