Long a staple of the annual Art Takes a Bough Ornament Reception, longtime White House decorator Bill Hixson returns to Geauga Park District for a special holiday open house the evening of Thursday, December 5th.
Guests will be greeted at The West Woods Nature Center for two hours beginning at 6:30 p.m. and may enjoy holiday refreshments.
Hixson, an accomplished floral designer who has assisted with holiday decorating at The White House for more than 30 years, marks his presentations with humorous stories centered on decorating rooms within the White House, folklore about ornament designs and holiday traditions, and demos of his skills. Some of his ornaments will also be available for sale and signing. Hixson’s presentation begins at 7:00 p.m.
“We are so pleased to be welcoming Mr. Hixson back,” said Teresa Runion, special events coordinator for Geauga Park District. “His stories are extremely engaging, and his demonstrations appear effortless. Also, the décor pieces he creates are raffled off to lucky audience members, so guests walk away with new decorating ideas…and sometimes a masterpiece by Mr. Hixson!”
Geauga Arts Council co-presents this very special holiday appearance.
The West Woods Nature Center is wheelchair/stroller accessible at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township. Registration is not required for this open house, which will feature refreshments. Please call 440-286-9516 with questions.
