The Newbury American Legion Auxiliary Unit #663 has donated a flag to Burton Health Care Center in loving memory of Mel Lalich, a former rehab patient. Mr. Lalich was a staff sergeant and veteran of the United States Air Force and a long time member of the American Legion.
“We are one of the few nursing facilities in the area that is contracted as a Veterans Administration provider,” says Laura Washington, Community Liaison. “We have many veterans that reside with us for short term rehab as well as long term residents. At a recent Veterans Day Program the Hunter family was visiting and noticed we did not have an American Flag displayed. Ken Hunter is a member of the American Legions, and on December 13 they dedicated the flag.”
Burton Health Care Center is very appreciative of the donation. “We have frequent programs honoring our veterans and the flag is a great reminder of our liberties and the sacrifices that our service men and women have made and continue to make for us,” says Laura.
