Bye Bye Birdie is a musical comedy based on an Elvis Presley-like character who gets drafted into the army.

Conway Birdie, a teen idol, embarks on a farewell tour that is to end with a special kiss for one lucky fan. Along the way, a tangle of love and broken hearts follow Conrad, his agent, the lucky fan and her boyfriend, family and a host of others.

Isabella Mastrey, who plays Rose, the agent’s girlfriend, is thrilled to be in a part once played by Chita Rivera, whose 82nd birthday coincidentally falls on opening night. She sees it as an honor and also loves the show. She states, “I love how fun it is! It’s so lighthearted. It’s pretty much impossible to be in bad mood while you watch the show.”

The Skip Kelley Youth Production is named for Stuart Skip Kelley, who was a strong proponent of involving youth in every aspect of theater production. Skip, our GLTG Tech director, passed away in 2005 and left an indelible mark on the young men and women he inspired over the years, many of whom moved onto careers in theater, sound production and lighting design.

Bye Bye Birdie will run from January 23 to February 8, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., at the historic Geauga Theater which is located on beautiful Chardon Square, 101 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio.

Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 for those 12 and under. Special thanks to our marquee sponsor Lake Health!
