Do you like candy? Are you creative and/or crafty? Well, we have a fun family activity for you!
We’re celebrating Hambden’s month-long relationship with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by sponsoring a candy contest at Family Night on March 3.
Your mission, if you choose to participate, is to create a sculpture of any kind out of candy. You may use hard candy, soft candy, chocolate…we will even let you include gum if you want (after all, we can’t forget about Violet).
We will not be eating these, so you may use toothpicks, real glue or icing to stick parts together. Perhaps you have other ideas up your sleeve. You can make a person, animal, or other figure (in other words, a person, place, or thing). You may use material other than candy for a form, but mostly candy should be visible. Your figure may relate to the book, or it may not.
We suggest that entrees be mounted on a piece of cardboard or a plate for safe display.
Bring your sweet sculpture with you to Family Night on Thursday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hambden Elementary gym. We will register you and the judges will announce the winners later in the evening.
Hope to see you then!
