Cardinal Middle School Hosts Drug Free 24/7 Event

The message was clear, “Stay healthy and drug free so you can achieve your dreams.”

On Monday, October 28, Cardinal Middle School hosted a Drug Free 24/7 event. Students in Student Council and Builders Club helped plan the evening. They also created and performed skits to encourage students to stay drug free.

Sheriff McClelland and Midge

Guest speakers were also present and included Sheriff McClelland with Midge (his dog), Judge Burt, and Judge Grendell. Representatives from Middlefield Police, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, Geauga County Juvenile Court, Ohio State University Extension, Geauga County United Way, Mental Health Association of Geauga County, Ravenwood and Geauga County ESC were also there providing information and snacks.

Mary Alice Bell from Ravenwood worked with a committee from Cardinal Middle School to make this event happen. After the presentations, students and parents were able to participate in some interactive activities. Cardinal Middle School eighth grade student Stephanie summed up the night with her quote from their skit, “It’s your choice to do what you want, but our choice is to be drug free.”
