ROTARY CLUB PROVIDES DICTIONARIES FOR THIRD GRADE SCHOLARS
Every year, members of the Rotary Club of Burton Middlefield are gracious enough to gift our third grade scholars with dictionaries. This year is no different. The Class of 2029 received their dictionaries on Thursday, February 13. Rotarian Bob Varga spent time talking to the class, explaining how the dictionaries work and noting the additional information that could be found in these particular ones – including state information, lists of Presidents and American Sign Language. (Several of our scholars really enjoyed practicing the ASL alphabet.) We are grateful to the Rotary for providing this valuable resource to our scholars, it is greatly appreciated and something they will be able to use for years to come!

SCIENCE LAB EXPLORES SOLIDS, LIQUIDS AND GASSES
Solid, liquid, gas – oh my! Recently our first graders spent time with district science consultant, Mr. Claire Zurbuch, in the science lab learning about solids, liquids, gas, and measurement! Scholars had the opportunity to move through nine different stations where they measured different solids (like wooden blocks and ice cubes) and liquids (such as water) and identified air as a gas that filled a balloon. Mr. Z. also did a demonstration about how atoms move in a solid vs. a liquid vs. a gas. As always, our pups had a great time and learned a lot! Thanks Mr. Z!
