CHS SCHOLARS PARTICIPATE IN ROTARY SPEECH EVENT

On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, three students from Cardinal High School and two students from Berkshire competed in the Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Competition at the Welshfield Banquet Hall. The speech competition asks students to relate an ethical issue to the four questions of: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Is it beneficial to all concerned? All five students did a great job presenting their speeches. Rotary sends the top three students home with very generous cash prizes. Wilson R. of Berkshire took first place, Ellie R. of Cardinal took second place, and Hope Z. of Berkshire took third place. There were also competitive presentations by Chloe D. and Jay H. of Cardinal. Thank you Rotary for this great opportunity along with all of the other services that you do for people both locally and abroad!

FOX 8 NEWS VISITS JORDAK ELEMENTARY – THE COOL SCHOOL OF THE WEEK

It was SO EXCITING to have Fox 8 News reporter Roosevelt Leftwich visit Jordak Elementary on Wednesday, February 12 to film for our “Cool School of the Week” segment! (Jordak was one of three schools in an online contest the week of February 3rd to be voted as the “Cool School of the Week.” The school that receives the most votes is then featured on Fox 8. Jordak won their week with more than 10,000 votes.) Mr. Leftwich spent a couple of hours in district trying to highlight as many things as possible. He met the student body in a special morning assembly, participated in exercise club, watched a wind experiment in the Science Lab, saw scholars experiment with chemistry thanks to COSI visiting, peeked in on our classroom learning and library maker spaces, and heard the choir perform. He also interviewed several students and faculty members! We kept him busy while he was here and he did a wonderful job showcasing our school on Fox 8 the next day! JES scholars Emma and Lucy K. also appeared live on the FOX 8 Morning show Thursday, February 13 to participate in the Coffee Quiz! They did a great job representing the Cardinal School District and showing their Huskie Pride!

Interview: Fox 8 News Reporter Roosevelt Leftwich interviews third grader Olivia K. for a Cool School of the Week segment. Olivia was discussing the wind experiment in the science lab.
Classroom: Fox 8 News Reporter Roosevelt Leftwich films in the classroom for third grade math teacher Mike Topalian.
In Studio: JES second grader Emma K. and her sister, third grader Lucy K. visit the Fox 8 studios in Cleveland. They represented Cardinal Schools and participated in the Coffee Quiz during the live morning show on February 13, 2020.
