On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, the students of Cardinal High School gathered in the gymnasium to witness an important political event – the swearing in of local elected officials.

The ceremony was conducted by Ohio Supreme Court Justice William O’Neill who swore in Councilmen Ron Wiech and Rick Seyer, Cardinal School Board member Nancy Ferguson, Educational Services Board member Steve Remias, and Trustee Jon Ferguson.

After the oaths were taken, several of the elected officials, along with Justice O’Neill and State Representative John Patterson, addressed the student body with inspiring speeches about the importance of voting, how politics affects their lives, and they explained that they are the future of our community and country. This was a wonderful opportunity for students of Cardinal High School to see local politics in action.
