Cardinal Varsity Soccer Teams Up with Rec Team to Crush Cancer!

The Cardinal Varsity soccer team and the Middlefield rec league U-12 team are partnering to help crush cancer. On Monday, October 10th, the two teams are joining forces to raise awareness for cancer and help support Hawken Hunt, the nine-month-old nephew of Varsity Soccer Coach Mike Topalian. Hawken is currently being treated for Burkitt’s Leukemia, a rare form of cancer found in babies.

T-shirts and wristbands will be sold at the game; raffles and concessions will also be available. Proceeds from all sales will go directly to the Hunt family.

Both games will be played on the Richard A. Moss Field at Cardinal High School. The U-12 game begins at 5:00 p.m. against the Chardon YMCA. The Varsity game against Brookfield will kick off at 7:00 p.m. Fans are asked to wear either orange for leukemia awareness or yellow for childhood cancer awareness.

Cardinal High School and Soccer Alumni Drew Mast and Kathryn Dhayer will be singing the national anthem.
