Catch the Holiday Spirit with the Lake Effect Concert Band’s Free Pops Concert on Saturday, December 2

The Great Lakes communities are invited to celebrate the holiday season with a free holiday pops concert presented by the Lake Effect Concert Band on Saturday, December 2nd from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The concert will be held in Newbury Township at the Newbury High School, 14775 Auburn Road.

The Lake Effect Concert Band is a community-based adult ensemble that performs under the sponsorship of the Snowbelt Musical Arts Association (SMAA). The SMAA, under the direction of conductor and educator Greg Hillis, is dedicated to expanding opportunities for people of all ages, in the Snowbelt region of Northeast Ohio, to perform and enjoy musical activities.

Guest vocalist Lindsay Sandham Leonard will be leading the audience in a sing-along of traditional holiday tunes.

The holiday concert will feature guest vocalist Lindsay Sandham Leonard, who will be performing Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” and some medleys of holiday favorites. She will also be leading the audience in a sing-along of traditional holiday tunes.

In addition, the band will be playing many familiar pieces, from Albert Hague’s “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” and Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” to a medley from the children’s film, The Polar Express. For long-time fans of the Boston Pops Orchestra, conductor Greg Hillis has added to the band’s repertoire a lively rendition of one of their holiday standards, “The Toy Trumpet” by Raymond Scott.

The concert will take place in a handicap-accessible auditorium, and there is ample free parking. This family-friendly event is free and open to all. Donations will be appreciated. For more information about SMAA and a schedule of other upcoming concerts, visit Snowbelt Musical Arts Association or Facebook Snowbelt Musical Arts Association, email snowbeltmusical@gmail.com or call 440-296-9610.
