Chagrin Falls Middle School Announces Spelling Bee Winner

Chagrin Falls Middle School eighth grader Lucy Ranieri and seventh grader Nick Angelino were the last two standing in the Chagrin Falls Middle School’s annual spelling bee on February 6, 2014. They battled word for word until Lucy misspelled her word and Nick won the bee with the word “labyrinth.”

To prepare for the event, the entire school participated in the first round, which was a spelling bee test given in all of the English classes. From this test, 28 students qualified for the second round and were named spelling bee finalists. Next, the entire school watched these 28 finalists compete in the Performing Arts Center. It took 20 rounds before a winner was announced.

Nick will advance to the county level, which will take place at 9 am on March 1 at Cuyahoga Community College. The winner of that bee will advance to further rounds, ending at The Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. in May.
