Chagrin Falls Middle School Hosts International Program Day

On April 28th, Chagrin Falls Middle School students and staff participated in an International Program Day. “Our goal was to spread the awareness of diversity and appreciation of differences in our school,” said Principal Laila Discenza, Chagrin Falls Middle School. Students focused on global citizenship and different classrooms inside the school featured different cultural elements of a country. Students spent the afternoon cycling through classrooms and learning about different customs, foods, religions, and rituals. Parents, family members, and community members dedicated their afternoon towards this event. During each of the four thirty minute blocks, volunteers shared food, showed traditional clothing items, shared slides, played cultural games, and talked about holiday celebrations. Some of the countries the students explored included Japan, Ecuador, England, Ireland, Turkey, Indonesia, Spain, Greece, Puerto Rico, China, Hungary, Egypt, Bolivia, Haiti, Tonga, and Singapore.
