
On Friday, August 18th, the staff of Chagrin Falls Schools convened for the start of the 2017-18 school year. After a delicious breakfast was served by the Food Services Department in the Middle School cafeteria, the morning continued in the Performing Arts Center with the recognition of staff who have been with the district for 20 years. The Ray Markuszka 20-Year Service award was presented to Ellen McKelvey, Joanne Nidy-Patrizi, Courtney Polcar, Michael Salyers, and Dawn Serazin. Janelle Ranieri, president of the PTO, gave a warm welcome to the staff as well. Tracie Guggenheim, Speech Language Pathologist for Chagrin Falls Schools was named Teacher of the Year and Laura Berg, Educational Aide at Chagrin Falls Middle
School was named Staff Employee of the Year.
Another highlight of the morning was nationally-known speaker, Jack Berckemeyer, who spoke to the staff on how to improve student success through practical ideas and humor.
“Teaching is about passion, caring, and most importantly, relationships,” said Superintendent Robert Hunt, Chagrin Falls Schools, in his opening address. “We appreciate you and notice every day the choices you make to be dedicated to your job and exemplify a great work ethic. We wish all of you a successful new school year.”
