U.S. Army Visits CHS
A United States Army educational mobile exhibit was on-site at Chardon High School on Sept. 12, engaging grades 8-12 physical education, health and history classes in flight orientation simulations. Students experienced virtual reality excursions through hands-on operation of Army helicopter simulators, including the UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache, and also participated in physical fitness exercises while waiting in line for the simulation activities.
Hilltopper staff member Mr. Cam Niehus, who is also a U.S. Army 2nd Lieutenant Field Artillery officer, initiated and coordinated this unique career exploration event for the students. The Army will return to CHS later this fall, bringing more career learning opportunities to the classroom.

Broadmoor School early childhood supervisor Liz Miller stated “A huge thank you to Chardon High School again for their efforts to ensure a successful preschool picnic for the students at Broadmoor School. All of the Chardon students were respectful and true ambassadors for Chardon’s core values.”
ACADEC Senate Recognition

Chardon High School’s 2021-22 Academic Decathlon team was recognized during summer break by the Ohio Senate and State Senator Sandra O’Brien. A resolution was passed honoring the team and their achievement of 14 medals in the 2022 State competition.
Team coach Allen Herner is very pleased that all nine members of that stellar team have returned for the 2022-2023 season. And recruitment efforts have paid off with the addition of 10 new members for this year’s squad. Coach Herner stated “The future looks bright for the CHS Academic Decathlon team.”
