Chardon Middle School has launched a new reading initiative this year called RED (Read Every Day) where each day, for a 22 minute block of time, students are required to spend their time reading.
Weather permitting, students are even reading outside on the lawn. Research shows that students read more, understand more, and are more likely to continue reading when they have the opportunity to choose what they read.
