On Monday, March 20th the Chardon Rotary Club hosted its Annual 4-Way Speech Contest, where area high school students were invited to compete in the speech contest for cash prizes. From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is the 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor. The topic for the speech is the student’s choice. However, the speech must clearly show the practical application of all four points of the Rotary 4-Way Test which states: Of the things we think, say or do, is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, & will it be beneficial to all concerned?
First place winner was Antonia Mysyk (NDCL), second place went to David Nedrow (Chardon High) and tying for third place were Hannah Taylor (NDCL) and Marissa Perrico (Chardon High).
