The Chardon Fire Department visited the Chardon Early Learning Center’s Tiny Toppers Kindergarten and pre-Kindergarten students on Oct. 19 as part of a fire safety lesson.

In addition, students learned the basics of how a fire is put out once the department is on the scene.

Speaker Amplifies Advertisement Lesson

Chardon Middle School’s seventh-grade Accelerated English Language Arts classes host Drive Social Media Director of Franchise Stephen Curitore in the school’s large-group instructional room on Oct. 14, a career speaker visit designed to help students create impactful advertisements for products they are creating for a Greek mythology assignment.

Chardon Middle School’s seventh-grade Accelerated English Language Arts classes, taught by Stephanie Curitore and Cher Culliton, hosted Drive Social Media’s Director of Franchise Stephen Curitore as a guest career speaker on Oct. 14. Mr. Curitore’s visit was designed to help enrich student learning — specifically for a product advertisement project the students have been assigned.

The Accelerated ELA students have been studying ancient Greece in social studies and read The Trojan War in their ELA class. As a related ELA assignment, each student is researching a character from Greek mythology and creating a product around that character. In addition to developing a product, students are tasked with creating an advertisement for their product.

To help students brainstorm ideas and understand how to go about creating an impactful advertisement for their products, Mr. Curitore discussed with students — during his Oct. 14 visit — how influential advertising is, specifically on social media, and taught students the elements of a social media advertisement and what to consider when creating one.
