Community Dances in March and April

Time to get out and dance away the winter blues! Below is a list of upcoming dances in the area that you will want to attend. Bring a partner or find one when you get there; bring your dancing skills, or learn for the first time. All kinds of fun for all the family!

The Bainbridge swing dances are held at the Bainbridge Township Town Hall (17826 Chillicothe Road aka Route 306; Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023) and begin at 9:00 p.m. preceded by a one hour swing dance lesson at 8:00 p.m. Experienced and non-experienced dancers are welcome. This public, family-friendly event is open to all ages. No partner is required for the lesson or the dance. Admission is $10 per adult, $8 per student, or $25 per family. Admission includes the 8:00 p.m. lesson and 9:00 p.m. live performance and dance. A different live band performs the first Friday of every month. DR. ZOOT AND BAINBRIDGE SWING DANCE

Friday, the 1st of March from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.,

Dr. Zoot, a seven piece swing band, will be performing live at the Bainbridge Swing Dance.

Dr. Zoot performs in theaters, clubs, dance halls, and festivals. Since the band formed in early 1998, their popularity has been growing rapidly nationally and internationally. Their original tunes have been featured on many major CD compilations and have been placed in several TV and film scores. Dr. Zoot’s distinctive sound maintains a contemporary feel while reaching back across the years to link with the greats who have come before them. BLUES DEVILLE AND BAINBRIDGE SWING DANCE

Friday, the 5th of April from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.,

Blues DeVille will be playing live. For close to 20 years this band has been playing “American Roots Music”, including Blues, Swing, Old Soul, even a little Zydeco. A thousand gigs and two CDs later, they are still making “good time” music.

CHAGRIN FALLS CONTRA DANCE

Monday the 18th of March and Monday the 15th of April from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Chagrin Falls Contra Dance will be held at the Chagrin Falls Township Hall (83 North Main Street). This is a lovely and lively dance that you will not want to miss. The folk musicians for this Contra Dance perform with style and elegance. No need for prior dance experience. Each Contra Dance is taught through simple instruction by dance caller Kenny Wilson. Introductory dance lesson starts at 7:30 p.m. and the Contra Dance is from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30p.m. Admission is $8.00 for those 17 years and under, $10.00 per adult, and $25.00 per family. Chagrin Contra

TROY TOWNSHIP CONTRA DANCE

Saturday the 2nd of March and Saturday the 6th of April from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., these Troy Township Contra Dances will be held at the Troy Community House (13950 Main Market Road aka Route 422; Burton, Ohio 44021). This dance is lively and friendly. Try it, you will like it! No need for prior dance experience. Each Contra Dance throughout the evening is taught through simple instruction by dance caller Kenny Wilson. This is a great family friendly event that you will look forward to every first Saturday of the month (October through June).

Introductory dance lesson, by Will Craig, starts at 6:30 p.m. and the Contra Dance is from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $8 per adult, $5 per student, $25 per family, and children under six years are free.
