COUNT THE BIRDS – Participate in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count

Maybe you’ve always wanted to help a scientific cause. Maybe you’re passionate about doing your part toward the greater good in Nature. Or maybe you just enjoy spending time with the birds.

Become an official Citizen Scientist by joining us this February for the Great Backyard Bird Count, a worldwide count coordinated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. For more information, visit http://gbbc.birdcount.org.

Geauga Park District’s counting will be conducted at The West Woods Nature Center on Friday, February 12, during 45-minute time slots beginning at 1 p.m.; Saturday, February 13, during hour-long time slots beginning at 11 a.m.; and Sunday, February 14, also during hour-long time slots beginning at 11 a.m. Registration is required to attend this year, and to allow for maximum participation in these times of group size restrictions, we ask that participants register for only one session each.

To enhance your fun, why not bring your camera? Who knows when you’ll get that magical shot perfect for the 2021 Great Backyard Bird Count Photo Contest – or framing for your wall!

Please note that face coverings are required indoors at all times at The West Woods Nature Center, which is fully wheelchair/stroller accessible at 9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87) in Russell Township.
