Cutie Takes Flight on NDES Campus

First graders in Mrs. Biro’s class witnessed the miraculous transformation of Monarch butterflies in enrichment class taught by Sr. Barbara Soplata, SND. In honor of Notre Dame Elementary School’s 60th Anniversary, 60 caterpillars were collected from the butterfly garden and hay fields on the NDES campus.

Each week, the students observed changes as the caterpillars grew into beautiful Monarchs.  The butterflies will be set free to make their long migration to Mexico for the winter.
