Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) introduces a new education program for groups and organizations this summer. The revised program caters to all age groups and covers a variety of relevant topics.
This summer, education groups are invited to climb aboard for a two-hour interactive train ride through Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The program is filled with activities, stories and puzzles, eligible for all age groups.
The new program, led by CVSR staff, focuses on the natural history and wildlife in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Topics covered throughout the duration of the ride will include trains and other transportation systems, animals and their habitats, the geography of the park, the Ohio and Erie Canalway, the local history of the Underground Railroad and sustainability.
“We’re really excited to be offering this new curriculum to groups this summer,” said CVSR President & CEO Joe Mazur, “Our staff has crafted it in a way that can be delivered to groups of all ages. It’s a great way to get summer camps or other education groups out into Cuyahoga Valley National Park during summer break.”
Summer education programs will run every Friday from June 14th through August 16th, departing from Peninsula Depot. There are three available departure times: 9:45 a.m., 11:40 a.m., and 1:55 p.m.
Tickets are $8 per student and $10 per teacher/chaperone. Each group receives two free teacher/chaperone tickets. There is a limit of 48 passengers per departure time due to train car capacity.
Education programs can be booked by calling 1-800-468-4070 x 221 or by emailing ahanigosky@cvsr.com. For more information visit cvsr.org/education-programs.
