Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad kicks off its 2019 season of Bike/Hike Aboard on Friday, May 3rd. The unique Bike Aboard program, presented by Cleveland Clinic and Century Cycles, allows visitors to bring their bikes aboard the train, making for a fun day of exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Cyclists can ride their bikes along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail and take the train back for just $5 per person (ages three and older). The ticket applies to a one-way trip, once per day and also applies to hikers.
Bike Aboard will run from May 3rd through October 27th and is available during the regular train schedule on Fridays – Sundays in May and Wednesdays – Sundays beginning in June. The train can be flagged down at any of the boarding stations by waving both arms over head. Passengers pay the $5 fare upon boarding; exact change is appreciated.
For frequent riders, an annual Bike Aboard pass is available for $35 per person and includes unlimited one-way rides. The pass does not apply to hikers or kayakers. Visit www.cvsr.org/bike-aboard-annual-pass/ to purchase.
IMPORTANT: Boston Mill Station will be out of service for the 2019 season due to construction of the new CVNP visitors center. Cyclists can board/deboard north at Brecksville Station or south at Peninsula Depot. Bike/Hike Aboard will run on some special holidays including Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Bike Aboard will run on a shortened schedule on September 20th and 27th and will not run at all on September 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th due to Steam in the Valley.
CVSR has policies and procedures that visitors should familiarize themselves with prior to riding. Visit www.cvsr.org/bike-aboard/ to view the policies. Riders should check for towpath trail closures at www.nps.gov/cuva/ before heading out.
