Geauga Park District offers new opportunities for tours atop its EZ Go Cart
In keeping with its mission to connect all Geauga County residents with nature, Geauga Park District has introduced a new piece of equipment to its programming roster. Park Board President Jim Patterson said, “For those who have difficulty walking, the EZ Go Cart provides a great opportunity to visit and enjoy the immense beauty of our parks.”
Those with limited mobility are now invited to join a trained volunteer for a trail ride on the new five-person EZ Go Cart. Reservable spots are available between the hours of 9 to 11 a.m. on a number of days, with each interpretive tour lasting a half hour and covering go cart-friendly areas of each park.
Naturalist Services Director Diane Valen recalled the value of the EZ Go Cart as it was recently demonstrated at the Observatory Park Grand Opening Celebration: grandkids climbed aboard to share an outdoor adventure with grandparents who had previously had to sit and wait as their families took to the trails. “It’s nice to see spouses and families who face challenges every day due to mobility issues be able to overcome barriers and engage in nature activities together,” Diane added. “Volunteers and staff eagerly accepted the invitation to learn to drive and write tour scripts and give riders a sampling of what each selected park has to offer.”
