Don’t Let the Winter Blues Get you Down! Learn to Cross Country Ski or Snowshoe at the Geauga Park District this Winter

Don’t let the snowy weather get you down! Try cross country skiing or snowshoeing for a healthy activity suitable for any age, pace or fitness level.

With a little instruction, you can quickly be gliding peacefully along snow-covered trails, or literally walking on top of the snow, surrounded by Nature’s winter wonderland in your Geauga County parks.

Register to learn the basics of cross country skiing from Chris Newman of Geiger’s, including proper clothing, equipment and technique, on Sunday, January 6th, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Orchard Hills Park. Ski rental will also be available in advance, at a discounted rate of $17, from Geiger’s in Chagrin Falls.

You can also register to learn the basics of snowshoeing, including proper clothing, types of equipment and proper techniques, on Saturday, January 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center. Don’t have a pair of your own snowshoes? No worries, you can borrow a pair of ours! Ages 8 and up, please.

Both programs will begin with an indoor presentation followed by outdoor instruction. Please call 440-286-9516 with questions.
