Practicing positive behaviors is front and center in Cardinal schools again this year. The District continues to use the Positive Behaviors Interventions Support (PBIS) model to provide a universal set of behaviors for students in all settings to practice.
Recently, teachers and students in grades K-4 performed skits in front of their peers highlighting each behavior expectation named out in the word PRIDE (*p*roductive, *r*espectful, *i*nvolved, *d*etermined, and *e*mpathetic). Special guest, Margo the Husky Pup, watched each skit, and then whispered which grade she thought had the best one to handler and school Maintenance Director, Brian Kelly.
Margo thought every skit was full of Huskie Pride, so every class won extra recess! “These skits were a great way to show students how we expect them to behave in positive ways, according to the PBIS model,” says Principal Kelly Bearer.
“As we see students practicing positive behaviors in the PRIDE areas, they’ll be rewarded with Huskie Bucks, which they can turn in weekly for prizes and activities – it’s a reward for good behavior, which will hopefully prompt them to keep it up!”
