If you’re headed to Walmart in Middlefield this afternoon be sure to buy a little something extra for the Fill a Police Car Food drive.
The “Fill-A-Police-Car” food drive was formed and adopted by the MPD in 2005 and has been conducted at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter seasons ever since. The program offers the community the opportunity to donate non-parishable food items and the goal is to fill a police car with the donations. All donated non-parishable food items are given to St. Lucy’s Church where food baskets are made and distributed to Geauga County area needy families during the holiday season.
Last year the program’s donated items were distributed to 157 area families in need. This program serves a sense of comfort for those who supply donations, in knowing that their donations stay in the area, helping our own friends and neighbors. Without the communities generous donations, programs like this would not thrive.
Make a difference in someone’s life today by giving.
