First Graders Conduct Experiments with Solids, Liquids, and Gasses

First graders Hayden S. and Ivy K., measure their water level during an experiment with solids, liquids, and gasses.

Students in Mrs. Horvath’s first grade class recently conducted experiments involving the different states of matter!

Students must be able to identify matter in a liquid, solid, or gas form. To help them gain a better perspective, Science Consultant Mr. Z. stopped by with some experiments. Students watched as ice cubes changed their state of matter from a solid to a liquid, and then measured liquids and gasses by using graduates.

Mrs. Horvath explained, “This hands-on experiment used measurements to illustrate the different properties of matter and was a great chance for students to explore the difference between solids, liquids, and gasses.”
