Signups are now under way for the June 22 Race for Kids at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, an event presented by Medical Mutual and benefitting Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland.
Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor is once again the official race ambassador and is scheduled to attend, pending any game-day conflicts. The event includes a 5- kilometer run, a 1- mile walk, all-day zoo admission, a commemorative T-shirt and and a host of family friendly activities. To register or find out more, visit http://www.clevekids.org.
Cost for individuals is $30 for the 5K run and $20 for the 1-mile walk. There is a $50 family rate for the 1-mile walk. Those who want to participate but are unable to make the race can choose a fundraising-only option.
All proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland, which provides fun, safe places after school for kids in our community. Each day, about 900 kids go to a Club, where they find caring adult mentors, homework help, career readiness opportunities, arts programs and athletics.
Pre-registration is encouraged. Race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with the 5k race starting at 8:30 a.m. In addition to presenting sponsor Medical Mutual, Bridgestone Credit Division, Meijer and SportsTime Ohio are the race’s Platinum-level supporters. Gold-level sponsors are Cleveland Clinic and Third Federal Foundation, while Silver-level sponsors are ArcelorMittal, Chapman & Chapman, Charles Schwab, Grant Thornton, Heinen’s Grocery Stores, Huntington, Northern Haserot Sherwin Williams and Swagelok.
