Free Ice Skating, New Farmer’s Market & Deal Day

Find them all at The Pond in Auburn

August is a BIG month for farmers markets. I know as a gardener, it’s a difficult month to keep up with – I just can’t get it picked and eaten or preserved fast enough. At least I have two guinea pigs that help with consumption!

Geauga County is so blessed to have oodles of farmers markets. I should do a township check to see how many of them hold their own – I bet almost all of them do. And now, folks in the southern part of the county can enjoy yet another one!

If you haven’t noticed, The Pond Ice Skating Rink, Geauga County’s very own ice skater’s paradise, has also joined the ranks, starting what they hope to be a year round market right in their parking lot on Rt 422 in Auburn. It will definitely be open at least through October. The Pond, under the new ownership of Elisa Nash, holds their market on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m., a perfect time to stop by for those traveling home from work. You’ll find local produce, bakery, kettle korn, maple syrup, and even soft serve ice cream. New vendors are welcome to join the fun. Just give Elisa a call.

Free Summer Skating – Last Day!

This week, August 14, marks the last day of open FREE skating from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Skate rental is $4.00. Why not take the kids and work up an appetite, then wander around the market afterward for some healthy produce, a little ice cream treat, and other great finds. A fun day for all!

Deal Day!

Be sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, August 18. The Pond is hosting Deal Day! Not only will you be admitted for free, rent skates for $1.00, and enjoy snacks priced at $1.00 for the day, but you’ll also have this one day chance to sign up for their opening Olympic skating season’s numerous programs at reduced rates! Definitely a great way to save all around.

The Pond offers a wide variety of programs including: birthday and private parties, learn to skate, hockey, figure skating, and public skating. They have programs for all ages!
